My South, A Celebration of Southern Art, Music, Literature and Food.

My South showcased all the things Mississippians both gobble up and are good at. On Saturday, May 5th, the event drew around 2,500 people including about 50 writers, 80 artists and, living blues legends Pinetop Perkins and Honeyboy Edwards. Deuce McAllister, New Orleans Saints Running Back acted as one of the hosts for the evening, along with numerous Mississippi Politicians, Trading Spaces Designer - Laurie Smith, Sela Ward, and the reigning Miss Mississippi USA - Jalin Wood.

Conceived and coordinated by Leisha Pickering, wife of 3rd District U.S. Representative Chip Pickering, it's patterned after a 2004 New York event she also organized. "For me, Mississippi is all about the people and all about our culture," Leisha Pickering said. "We have just so much to be proud of in our state."
