Deuce's Holiday Shopping Adventure 2006

Because of Deuce's Holiday Shopping Adventure, the Catch 22 Foundation is able to make Christmas special for deserving children in the Gulf South Region. These children are pre-selected, based on need, and are rewarded with a shopping spree of $100.00. They are told they have $75 to spend on three members of their family, and after exhausting that amount, they have $25 to spend on themselves. Each child has a student-athlete mentor to help complete their holiday shopping. This is an exciting event in the lives of these children, as many come from homes where there is no Christmas!

In New Orleans, Deuce's Holiday Shopping Adventure was held on Monday, December 4th at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Kenner. Deuce and seventeen of his teammates were on hand to help 100 kids compete their holiday shopping, as well as student athletes from local universities. Along with shopping, the night included several other fun events. After they finished their holiday shopping, each child was able to wrap their gifts. The kids had lots of fun cookie decorating with the Pastry Chef at the Windsor Court Hotel, Melissa Grimm. Dinner for the kids was provided by Wal-Mart and dinner for athletes and volunteers was provided by Pigeon's Caterers; drinks were provided by Coca-Cola. Volunteers were on hand to help direct the kids to their stations, wrap gifts, and complete their shopping. The night was concluded with each child going home with a smile on their face and gifts in their hand!

In Jackson, Deuce's Holiday Shopping Adventure was held on Monday, December 11th at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Ridgeland. Deuce and three of his teammates, Charles Grant, Mike McKenzie, and Fred McAfee were on hand to help 100 children complete their holiday shopping! Student athletes from local universities also volunteered their time to help children shop for Christmas gifts. The Garden Center was closed for the duration of the event, as groups of children shopped, wrapped gifts, decorated cookies, and had their picture made with Santa! Dinner was provided by McAlister's Deli and drinks were provided by Coca-Cola. The night was topped off by the staff at Wal-Mart presenting Deuce McAllister with his very own Wal-Mart #875 Jersey, signed by all of the staff that helped with the event.
