Little Chefs

Located across from The Baptist Hospital on State Street in Jackson is a little place called The Pizza Shack. One year ago to the day, The Pizza Shack opened its doors to serve the best pizza in the City of Jackson, and on their one year anniversary its doors were open to welcome twelve little chefs.

On Wednesday, March 28 twelve kids from the Think Together Tutoring Center at Hunter Oaks Apartments in Jackson became very familiar with pizza making. After a short demonstration of how to toss pizza dough, each child got to try their hand at tossing the dough. Some were more successful in throwing the dough in the air than others! After preparing the dough for pizza crusts, each child was able to decorate their very own pizza with colorful toppings of bell pepper, pepperoni, sausage, black olives, cheese, and other yummy things! Then the pizzas went into the oven and came out just as the kids were getting hungry.

This Deuceday might have been the most memorable for the kids of the Think Together Tutoring Center because as the dough was being prepared, Deuce McAllister himself walked into the kitchen with a red apron and declared that he was ready to cook! He even created a thin crust pizza to take home for himself. After photos and quality time with Deuce, the kids grabbed their to-go boxes and bags of goodies from the Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi and boarded the van to go home.
