Honor Roll students visit the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Museum

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 marked the first Deuceday of the 2008-2009 school year. Thirty-six 4th Grade Honor Roll students from Morton Elementary School had an opportunity to visit the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Museum off of Lakeland Drive in Jackson, MS.

During their museum visit, the students saw a glimpse of what life was like in the earlier days. They were able to see shotgun homes, what an original gas station looked like, a printing shop, as well as several other business. They learned about where people would store their food and why they were stored this way. They also had a chance to visit different animals and learn about various trees and plants.

The Honor Roll students seemed to have a great time, and left with a better understanding of what life was like in Mississippi 'back in the day'.
