Fundraising event benefits local children.

NEW ORLEANS - Aug. 31, 2006- New Orleans Saints teammates and fellow Pro-Bowlers Deuce McAllister and Drew Brees will host Cocktails for Katrina - a spirited NFL fundraiser - Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Generations Hall (310 Andrew Higgins Drive) in New Orleans.

In celebration of the team's much anticipated return to the Superdome, Saints fans, celebrities, and fellow athletes will raise a glass for local children affected by Hurricane Katrina at Cocktails for Katrina.

"Children are the future of the city and the future of our nation. It is vital that we equip them with the knowledge and ability to reach beyond high school and become positive individuals in society," said Deuce McAllister.

Generations Hall will feature several New Orleans restaurants where patrons can sample fantastic cuisine and sip expertly mixed cocktails featuring Rain vodka and Coca Cola products. Restaurants and caterers participating include Pigeon's Caterers, Morton's The Steakhouse, Drago's, Impastato's and many others.

"This is a great partnership with the Deuce McAllister Catch-22 Foundation that enables us to continue to assist people impacted by hurricane Katrina and make a difference in the community," said Kim Trouard, Sales and Marketing Manager at Morton's The Steakhouse. The evening will also feature a live and silent auction featuring sports memorabilia from professional teams around the nation and beautiful one-of-a-kind art pieces. Carats for Katrina is a special raffle where one lucky winner will score a one-carat diamond. Guests will also have the opportunity to challenge the athletes and celebrities to a game of pool and other activities.

Tickets are $100.00 per person and available by contacting Josselyn Miller at 504-251-7821 or catch22@deucenissan.com. Proceeds from Cocktails for Katrina will go toward installing a turf field and amenities at Pan American Stadium in City Park in New Orleans. This turf field will be home to Orleans Parish high school athletic teams. Proceeds will also go toward the NFL Youth Education Town (YET) Complex. The YET Complex will be open all day, offering youth participants classes and activities to help them after school as well as focusing on career discovery for their futures. The center will also offer GED courses and life skills classes for adults.

As we encounter the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Brees and McAllister want people across the nation to realize that the city of New Orleans remains in desperate need of help. They are doing their part in making a difference, and they encourage business leaders, members of the media, and citizens across the country to join them in enhancing the lives of local children in New Orleans affected by the storm.

Since the hurricane, The Catch-22 Foundation has donated over $25,000 to assist children affected by the storm. In addition, Catch-22 assisted Saints Safety Steve Gleason's One Sweet World Foundation in collecting over 7,000 backpacks filled with school supplies for displaced children.

Deuce is a Saint making a difference. The Deuce McAllister Catch-22 Foundation funds holiday shopping sprees for hundreds of area youngsters annually each holiday season. The running back also works extensively with Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
